– We Enable Great Minds and Strong Characters –

ISR International School on the Rhine is an accredited, private all-day school, located in Neuss just a few minutes’ drive from Düsseldorf. This English speaking, multi-cultural school offers additional language classes in German, French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese to its students. Many families choose to send their children to ISR as the academic program prepares students for the internationally recognized and renowned, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. ISR graduates have earned scores of more than 10 percent above the average IB scores in Germany, with a 100% pass rate.

Enabling great minds and strong characters
Academic excellence, character building, development of social skills, as well as individually tailored solutions are at the core of ISR’s education system. ISR seeks to develop its students into well-rounded, multi-lingual, self-aware, and socially-responsible global citizens. The school offers an excellent, international education with a holistic concept from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

The school’s vision is to be a leader in academic achievement, to provide self-development and character-building experiences, to prepare students for life after school, and to connect its graduates worldwide through its active alumni network.

Welcome to ISR
It’s cool to be good! “It is cool to excel encapsulates the ethos of ISR. Whether it is in academia, sports, or music, giving your best, while still being humble is something we try to instill in every student”. Says Eileen Lyons, School Director.

Academic Excellence: ISR prides itself on preparing its students for their future path. Two full-time staff members counsel students on career options and corresponding course selections. Parents are also deeply involved in this process. Each student is individually prepared for his/her career through internships, summer courses, personality tests, mock interviews, as well as numerous university and college visits. This has resulted in a 100% pass rate in the renowned IB Diploma exams. ISR graduates go on to enter prestigious universities worldwide. For instance, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Boston University, MA, University of California San Diego, CA, RWTH Aachen, and the University of Maastricht to name a few. Alumni students connect over a dedicated Alumni website, often visit the school to interact with Upper School students and to share their university and career experiences with them.

Character Building: ISR’s Student Life Organization (SLO®) offers all students the opportunity to develop their organizational and leadership skills as part of their experience in the “Student Life Organization”. SLO® provides a platform that empowers roughly 100 students with leadership, team-building, and organizational skills. The students learn these skills as they participate in running this student society. SLO® offers over 90 different extra-curricular activities each week for students including volleyball, basketball, hockey, tennis, golf, swimming, yoga, and a wide range of individual music (both vocal and instrument) classes.

Stability: ISR students spend an average of 8 years at the school. This stable environment allows for a continuous and familiar learning environment where students can develop and form close friendships. 50% of last year’s graduating class of 2019 started attending school at ISR in Kindergarten. Hence, there is tremendous importance of instilling values that are essential for life at an early age. The leadership team deeply believes in respecting the performance of others, understanding and respecting different cultures, honesty, integrity, responsibility, sincerity, and the value of logical thinking mixed with a touch of “gut feel”- trusting your instincts.

Infrastructure: Lastly, ISR offers state of the art infrastructure. The vast sprawling campus of over 110,000m², several well-equipped science labs, IT-Labs with access to a 3D printer and Virtual Reality goggles, as well as a fitness center are all available to students. The campus also includes several large playgrounds and outdoor areas for the children, a large sports hall, and the Neuss district sports facility (PSV) with a soccer field and a track and field facility.
ISR is a five-star service educational provider and expects students to work hard, engage, and simply do their best.

ISR International School on the Rhine

The goal of the enriching curriculum at ISR lies in the academic development of each student and well-founded character education, which includes social, emotional, and physical maturity. Our curriculum and aspirations at ISR are underpinned by the guiding principle: "We Enable Great Minds and Strong Characters" which forms the foundation of schooling at ISR. Through our curriculum, students at ISR develop academic skills and knowledge, emotional intelligence, physical and creative skills and grow up as digital citizens through the use of technology in our classes, which does not replace teaching but complements it. In Grade 11 and Grade 12 our students have the opportunity to obtain the International Baccalaureate Diploma. By earning the IB Diploma, our students are perfectly prepared for their future lives and have the opportunities to achieve all their goals for a happy and fulfilled future.
